Saturday December 8th, I’ll be arriving on the North shore for a week of shooting with Bryan Brough and 2M himself Mickey McCarthy, and a few days later hooking up with Ryan Kingsbury from SurfKDH.com.  Keep an eye out for daily updates.
Also if you know of any East Coasters who are going to be on the North Shore from the 9th thru the 15th…have them email me or Mickey for some possible photo sessions.
I just realized the reports are saying there’s a swell in VB…I’m working a half day today, so Hopefully I’ll make it down to 1st street around 1:00pm…Â
I’m working on a couple of updates which include some photos from China, as well as a new gallery of some shot’s I’ve done for Classic Design Builders and a couple of Local Realtors.
It’s Hockey night in Norfolk…I have ticket Vouchers to give away, read the info on the right side of this page.

I’m back from China and I’d like to say Hello to all my new friends who might actually be checking out the site out there, hopefully I’ll have some of the few shots I took posted in the next day or two. I expect there will be no surf until at least Dec 8th when I leave for Hawaii…oh well, it could be worse.

Ok, so I expected the east coast to get some surf while I’m out here enjoying the Orient, if you can call it enjoying. I’ve seen nothing historic and taken no photos in 2 weeks, but I never expected to miss the surf of the century. The more photos that I see the more Bummed I get. If you haven’t already checked it out go to www.SURFKDH.com and see what Ryan has posted and wait to see what Mickey has taken!
I’m staying out here an extra week until Nov 16, so Hopefully this weekend I’ll get out and see something worth taking pictures of, and possible post them so all of you people who are sick of looking at the epic surf can take a break from all that crap!
This does mean I will not be making the Reef contest this Saturday or the Military Surfing Championships in Nags head this weekend.Â
If anybody wants to get rich out here, I suggest starting a vending machine business, you’d be the first.

Finally for today, it does look like I’ll be leaving for China on Monday morning for 3 weeks so enjoy all the surf that will probably hang around for the entire time I’m gone, and don’t forget to go to the Admirals games. You may catch Mickey McCarthy doing the photo work while I’m away.Â

Since it’s been just that type of year…Right now it looks like I’ll be heading to Beijing China on October 22nd for 3 weeks for work, so as luck would have it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you all get some good to great surf.
While I’m gone I will not be able to fill any orders so I’m probably going to shut ordering down. I should be back in town on November 9th , depending on what’s going on I’ll try and make the Reef Contest and then Sunday’s East Coast Military Surfing Championships in Nags Head.
 A few weeks after that it’s off to Hawaii for 8 days of North Shore Photos! Let’s get Mickey his ticket!

Ok, so I drove down to the Outer Banks on Saturday. Hoping to shoot the Volcom contest, then Head down to the Lighthouse for the first day of the ESA Easterns. I figured it was a bust when I pulled up at 1st street and Ryan Kingsbury was the only person there. Actually there was on other guy who was just leaving. Surf sucked, Contest was a wash. I met up with John Barnes down in Nags head where there was a little wave, but nothing spectacular so I headed down to Hatteras. Seeing no cars lining the road anywhere, I figured I was S.O.L. , until I pulled into Rodanthe with cars lining the side of the road. I was more than a little suspect that this spot could be that much better than anywhere else. After watching it for a while I decided to shoot some photos. Nothing spectacular, it was probably nothing more than stomach high with the occasional bigger set wave. I shot for a while then headed back to Nags head to get some food and hang out.
I’ll have the photos from the 22nd posted sometime tonight, I’m not even going to bother heading to the Lighthouse this morning, I’m just going to go back to VB and get some stuff done, including getting the rental house booked for Hawaii!!!
In the meantime, here’s a shot of the Wright (no relation) Brothers Memorial yesterday afternoon.

I have very limited internet access at the moment so I can’t post pictures yet….Â
Surf in Rodanthe is easily in the Chest high + range with a pretty steady offshore wind on it. It looks a bit smaller now (6:45) than it did about an hour ago. Correction…the sets are still big…just witnessed a couple of guys getting barrelled near the pier one guy got covered up twice on the same wave…the crowds are starting to appear so find your spot.
If it’s anything like Yesterday I’d expect it to get better around noon-1pm with the tide change. I think I’m going to check out some of the more popular spots and probably shoot from one of them.
 I right now have 2 sets of shots to post from the past weekend…I’ll hopefully have these up tonight or tomorrow.
1) is last Saturday’s Outer Banks ESA contest at the Frisco Bathouse
2) is a small gallery of shots of Todd Pace and Steve Owens from an uncrowded break a little bit south of where I’m currently staying, that spot right now looks to have some size to it, although not as clean as yesterday afternoon.

next is…It’s Wednesday night which means Shadowlawn Surf Club night at 1st street….I have all prints for every order except one that was placed yesterday. I’ll try and send individual emails out today to let everyone know, I’ll have these prints with me tonight, or can drop them off.

Not much going on other than the heat…I’m still working on a couple of non-surfing galleries, not sure when I’ll ever finish those, hopefully tonight.  Tomorrow is Shadowlawn Surf Club night at 1st street so I’ll be back there for a couple/few hours.
In the meantime, here’s a shot I took of the Hatteras Light on Saturday (Aug 4th) morning.
I think I’ve figured out a way to take an image with my cell phone and have it posted directly to the site…if this works, I’ll be able to do live ’surf report’ images…stay tuned.
I have shots from KDH on Sunday July 22 , Virginia Beach on Monday July 23rd and some candid kid photos from the past month that I am currently working on. Most of these galleries should be up tonight, along with some of my shots from the Brooks and Dunn /Alan Jackson concert in VB.
I’m currently working on a new T-Shirt and will hopefully have something soon…I may post the design up here, once I’ve confirmed that I’m getting it printed.
Looks like one of my all time favorite bands will be playing ECSC this year. The BoDeans are going to be taking the stage on August 24th, I’m Stoked!…now if the Hoodoo Gurus would swing through this area on the next leg of their tour!

So I haven’t posted anything in a while, Hopefully that will all change soon. I’m working on a few things right now including a new T-shirt, a candid portrait type gallery and planning my December trip to the North Shore (Dec 8 thru 15 are my planned dates). I should be in Nags Head this upcoming weekend to hang out and depending on the weather Saturday afternoon, I think it’s time to paddle out and spread Niki’s ashes in the ocean, hopefully I’ll be able to do it from the same board she’s riding in the animation.
