Happy 4th of July from WrightCoastSurf.com

Costa Rica Rocks!
…oh, I have a bunch of surfing shots to post too!
Still trying to get the images uploaded, no luck. Tonight I leave you with a shot of John Barnes dropping in on his 1st wave on his 51st Birthday June 28th.

It’s 5:00 am and we’re getting ready to head over to Avellanas again to see what the surf looks like over there.
I’m still having no luck uploading the photo galleries, but I’ll keep trying. In the meantime here’s a shot taking from the upper deck of Rex Barnes’ place last night, facing south over Tamarindo…

First let me start by saying I FEEL LIKE CRAP! … but it could be worse, as a matter of fact it will be on Monday because the swell is supposed to be peaking on Monday/Tuesday while I’m flying from San Juan to Charleston West Va during a possible storm…couldn’t wait a week to get sick ya know.
Anywho…here go the photos
Click this image to see a few sunrise shots from Jan 29th
Photos from Jan 29th taken at Wilderness, Jobos and a few photos from another spot near Camuy will be posted tomorrow. Hopefully in the morning….
stay tuned….john
just in case anyone was curious…
…Flights out of DC (Dulles) on Continental are $256.00Â (that’s $198 plus tax and fees) round trip, to San Juan, about 100 bucks more out of Norfolk.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it, I plan on taking some photos if there’s any surf to be had.
January 28th thru February 3rd…..BE THERE!!!!!
It’s 4:30 am here in Southern California and today we’re expecting to see the Finals of the 2008 Boost Mobile Pro contest.
I have a ton of shots from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds to post.  Some I’ve already editted and there is a slideshow on SurfKDH.com right now, the rest of the photos will be posted late tonight.Â
Contest should be over around 1pm pacific time so it’s all free surfing and tourist photos after that.
 Stay Tuned

watch the sun come up as the front that kept Fay from heading north moves in, check out the direction of the clouds goes from west northwest to north northeast…this is a sequence of shots taken every 24 seconds for a couple of hours…more to come, maybe…
I’ve changed this clip to show at 6 frames per second without all the garbled crap from the previous conversion.

Tomorrow I’ll be heading down to Rodanthe for my annual week on the Beach. I’m hoping we get a swell like last years 3 days of fun and maybe a good thunderstorm or two.
Anyway a few things that I’m planning on attending in the next 10 Days:
Aug 15th at the Attic (above Watermans) @ 8:30pm Billabong Presents Surfers the Movie Then & Now   Â
                                     Â
August 16th – I’ll be at the Rip Curl Grom Search in Kitty Hawk (unless this is pushed back to the 17th, then I may or may not be there)
August 20th – @ Bonnet St from 2 to 4pm I will be in Nags Head to get some photos of Rip Curl riders Mick Fanning, Tom Curren, Pancho Sullivan and Taylor Knox.
I’ll end up the week back home in Va Beach shooting the final two days of the 46th Annual East Coast Surfing Championships.
Then it’s an entire 2 weeks at home until I head back to California for a week of nothing but shooting.
We’ll be here.
Tickets are booked and joining me on the trip will be Brad Styron and John Barnes for a week in Southern California. If any other East Coasters are planning on being out there, let Brad or Myself know if you’re interested in a Left Coast photo session. Â
Here they are in all their craptacular glory…nothing really spectacular here. Shots are from a day at the Summer Palace and a few from Tiannaman Square and that area.

Did you realize that it’s possible to fly to Boston, go to the New England Aquarium in the morning, take an afternoon whale watch cruise and fly back home by 10pm all for about $160 bucks? Anyway, I spent 2 days in Boston looking at the Humpback Whales. The final trip on the 27th was amazing…check out the photos to see what I mean. Click on any of the images below to see the entire 2 day’s worth of photos Gallery
Spent another day shooting at Rocky Point after getting the call from Brendan Petticrew. Shots include Brendan, Wes Laine, Ian Parnell , Bobby Martinez, Taj Burrow and whoever else happened to be out there. Ok 930 images have finally been uploaded from this last day of my visit to the north shore. I was in the ”hold the button down and blast the sequence” mode again just hoping to get something special. Click on the image below to view the entire gallery I believe there are 10 pages on this one!
Another very windy day, the only spot we could find that was breaking was Sunset Beach. Pipe wasn’t doing anything. Gallery is now up you can view the entire gallery by clicking on the image below.
Â
Surf was huge today on the North Shore, the reports were saying 22ft faces, but the wind was howling out of the north. Conditions were nothing close to clean, the only spot anybody was surfing was Waimea but that didn’t even look all that great. Hopefully the 8th will prove to be a better day condition wise and I’ll be back to taking 600 photos. As for the 7th the Spongers were in control at Pipe so I have a small Gallery of the few guys who were actually out there. Click on the Image below to see the gallery.
Didn’t take too many shots today, woke up late and had problems getting yesterday’s shots loaded, Then hit traffic on the way to the North Shore. We weren’t really in a rush because the swell wasn’t supposed to start showing til afternoon. Later on today with bad light and alot of mist we were watching easy 20 foot faces rolling in at Pipe with bigger close-out sets every once in a while. Tomorrow is supposed to be the day, and the Pipe Contest may start on Friday…stay tuned.
Photos aren’t really very good but if you want to see them, click on the image below to view the gallery.
Â
Another day at Rocky Point while we wait for Pipe to start breaking, and possibly Waimea could be on this week…stay tuned!!! Gallery won’t be fully uploaded until Wednesday night, hopefully along with Wednesday’s shots. Click on the image below to be taken to the gallery.
